Requirements
- ▹ Android 8.0 or newer on a 64-bit (arm64) phone
- ▹ An 886 MB APK, plus about 4–5 GB of available storage after install for the bundled runtime
- ▹ A supported provider API key, a Claude plan, or a ChatGPT subscription / OpenAI API key for Codex
Install in three steps
- Download the APK
- Allow install from browser. If Google Play Protect says "Unsafe app blocked", tap "Install anyway" (see the note below)
- Open Keva and add your key
This is expected, not a malware verdict. Keva runs a full Linux runtime on the phone (the same approach Termux uses), and apps that do this must be built against the Android 9 API level — so newer Android versions warn that the app "was built for an older version of Android". Tap "Install anyway" to continue; on some phones you first tap "More details" and then "Install anyway". Only download from keva.chat and verify the sha256 on this page before installing.
Newer Galaxy phones may have Auto Blocker turned on, which only allows apps from official stores. Go to Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker, turn it off, install Keva, then turn Auto Blocker back on if you like. Auto Blocker is a security feature; turning it off allows installs from outside the stores, so only do this for APKs you downloaded from keva.chat and verified. Installing a Keva update from keva.chat needs the same step.
Keva is distributed outside app stores so it can do what stores don't allow: run a real agent runtime. Always get the APK from keva.chat and verify the sha256.
